HONG KONG 2014 - DAY 1

Finally a post of our HK trip. Posting this for the sake of my sister. As she's going over during Oct.

The period we went was a SUPER hot season! Everyday we were like 'Not again?!' and we WALKED ALOT! I really mean ALOT.

But lucky him, I'm not a person who is made of ICE. :) If you are those who made of 'ice', my advice is to avoid Apr to Sept. Oct onwards will be much more cooling. But of course, the hotel rate will be much more expensive.

We booked a super early flight like 5am?! Hahahah! Every single second is important to us!
Did a lot of research as we don't want to miss any interesting places :)
Itinerary was planned by me. But location wise, he search and linked places and have all maps printed :)) No shopping! As things were not cheap at all and I don't want end up keep thinking what presents to buy for family and friends. If she have, he don't have, etc etc.
Purely café hopping, visit places and food hunting. :)) And of cos some impromptu plans! We skipped the Ocean Park and the Wax Museum cos we aren't very interested.

Early in the morning! As usual, our all time favourite breakfast. Half boiled eggs and coffee.
Don't really like Wang's but no choice!

It's about 4.5-5hrs if I'm not wrong! If you cant sleep on plane, get sth to do! It will be damn boring if your partner sleep like a pig! :D

Finally we reached! The airport was so BIG!

Their train was called MTR and was as convenient as Singapore!
Its ok to speak Chinese/English to them if you don't understand Canto. But at times we don't understand their Chinese/English too. LOL! They slang was different. So as per research, we need to get the Octopus card in order to board the train and an unlimited 3G card for outside usage. They charged us SGD50 for one card, unlimited. It was crazy. We gonna use for only 5 days, no way we spent so much on this (stingy mood). Decided not to buy, definitely there will be a cheaper ones out there.

For the MTR card, the counter lady told us to get don't know what express card (from airport to hotel) and an Octopus card (for normal use) to help us cut cost. But we don't understand her at that point of time, we just got the Octopus cards. Then we realised, the airport line was like a 'bullet' train instead of the normal train which will cost us more if we tap in by Octopus card, But its alright! Journey goes on~ HAHA!

We booked Hotel Dorsette Mongkok and its not every near to Mongkok MTR. Its nearer to Olympic MTR. We walked and asked around. It's actually so near, but difficult to find!

To my sis: A MUST to pass by this building with the dragon ok! Den ask counter lady!

This is our hotel. We requested for higher level! The view was SO awesome!!
Service was great. We realised a lot Singaporean staying this hotel too!

The most unbelievable thing about this hotel was:
1.  Free shuttle bus to 5 places
2.  A MOBILE PHONE with data for you to bring around within HK!! (lost of phone, HKD2K)

We are SO lucky that we didn't spend SGD50 for the unlimited card! And we wouldn't get lost! We on the GPS to find our way (of cos I'm not the one looking for map) and hotspot to connect Wifi to our mobile for FB/instal update! Note: Battery drained quite fast if hotspot is on throughout.

Took some selfie, changed into shorts and we are ready for our Day 1 tour!

First stop, TIM HO WAN!! I didn't try in Singapore. But I swear HK's was yummy!
And its CHEAP! Just a 15mins walk from our hotel! :))

Went to a shopping mall, Little Prince display!

Yes, Café hopping even in HK! One of the recommended café!

OH YA! There's NO NO NO toilets in HK!
I mean inside the malls. ALL toilets were locked for only the retail staffs to use!! Don't assume there's someone inside. I went back 3 times to check on the toilet and the guard told me not for public! Faintx
Public toilet was at one of the alley~ People like me will NEVER go. Guys, would be easy, they aren't particular about it. So, we start searching for HOTEL or OFFICE to use their toilet!

And FINALLY, there's this office building w toilet. Only one, handicapped toilet. Since no one is using, I went in. LOL! And I found the very weird n rare lift button! (EXACTLY SAME AS MY OFFICE) Cant believe it.

Ok, time to proceed to Victoria Peak! And before that, we have to take the Peak Tram!
Hard time searching, following the signboard and some tourist (if you are lucky)

Tickets bought! It was SO crowded! and everyone snatching for it!

WE GOT A SEAT!

The tram goes up to the hill. It's VERY steep!

It's still early to 'checked in', we shopped around.

 HK famous soup wanton mee!

Ok, off we go. We went up at around 5-6pm. WAITED for 3 hours!
From evening to night. It was worth it! It beautiful to see how the sky changed and HK Skyline was so nice!

On our way back!! SUPER CROWDED!!
Not so fortunate, we stand in the tram when going back. PLEASE HOLD TIGHT!

We took MTR and search high n low for this famous restaurant after we manage to get out of the crowd.

NO regret! The goose was superb! And also the most expensive meal throughout our trip!
SGD80-90 Its worth it!!

 Hotel night view! :))
That's the end of our Day 1! Stay tune for Day 2!
